The deep south of America. Often ignored in favour of the coasts, but arguably the most happening part of the whole country. Packed with a completely unique and tumultuous history, this part of the USA has some of the most vibrant cities, the most explosive gastronomic scene and people whose friendliness, and warm welcomes are a massive part of a trip like this.
When America was settled and expanded, the wild-west ruled. And while this is the south, this was the frontier land, the region where cowboys ruled and Indians suffered. A lot has happened in the intervening centuries and now a beautiful balance hangs over this part of America, where Native American reservations, resplendent in their balance with the natural world, stand side by side with old frontier towns like Oklahoma City, where old flows perfectly into the new.
You will start your road trip in Grapevine, just outside Dallas, Texas. After spending some time learning about the culture here, you’ll drive up into Oklahoma for a real deep dive into the most incredible state. Here you will visit Reservations and discover how Native Americans lived, and live now. You will visit incredible cities, off the beaten track towns and much of your trip will be spent comparing BBQ styles, enjoying every second of it!
After exploring Oklahoma you will slice back through Texas to head into Louisiana, with your eventual destination, the glorious New Orleans. Outside of this magnificent, ultra-vibrant city, not many people visit Louisiana, so you are in for a real treat as you open the lid on the real America, visiting a couple of delightful Louisiana cities.
You’ll finish off with an ice-cold Sazerac in hand, listening to some of the finest jazz in the world as parties happen in the street outside, a fine way to finish off your epic trip in New Orleans.
