There are so many big highlights on this trip. Just visiting Rome and Florence, you are going to have your mind blown at the sheer volume of historical buildings, and not just old ruins either! 

However, the hidden highlight of this trip is discovering Italy ‘on your own.’ Almost every little town and village is worth visiting, never mind the incredible cities, so we wanted to create a tour that was more than just a tour. We wanted to create an adventure, to instil that thrill of exploration, of travelling, but with absolutely no hassles. So, we linked up the finest spots in the whole country using the Italian National Rail service. This way you get to travel like a local, to see everyday Italian life and mix with the locals, rather than completely from the window of a coach. 

This style of travel extends to the inclusion of a 48hour Cinque Terre Park Card, which gives you access to the trains that link the UNESCO World Heritage 5 towns, so you can walk a trail to one and get the train home, or on to the next town.

Your trip starts off in the capital city of Italy, the irrepressible Rome where you will spend three glorious nights to really get a feel for the Eternal City. Then, as your hotels are all located close to the rail station, you will walk over to Roma Termini station and jump on board your train for the day. This will trundle leisurely through the incredible scenery of Tuscany before dropping you off in the renaissance city of Florence. Here you will get time to explore and be taken out to indulge in the gastronomic delights of Chianti, before finishing off the trip with some time in Monterosso al Mare, the biggest town on the wonderful Cinque Terre.

Passport & visa requirements

• All visitors require a passport with a minimum validity of 3 months beyond your return travel date is required for all passengers (including children and infants)
• It is the visitor's responsibility to ensure they are holding the correct and current visa for the countries they are visiting
• If the visitor is a non-Australian passport holder, a valid re-entry visa may be required
• Important: Please start arranging your visa at least 6-8 weeks prior to departure to account for any delays due to consulate operating hours and processing times

Health & vaccination

• As border restrictions for countries begin to ease, being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will maximise the number of locations you can visit. So whilst you are not legally required to be vaccinated, and it’s also not a requirement to travel with us, it will limit some of the countries that you can visit and may make it harder to travel for the next 12-18 months.
• We highly recommend our travellers to look at the current travel restrictions of their destination, speak with a medical professional at least 30 days before departure or get in touch with our team for travel advice.
• Health care such as a doctor’s surgery, dentist and optometrists may not always be accessible on this tour
• It is advised that you ensure you have adequate health insurance cover as part of your travel insurance

Fitness requirements

Availability

• All DealsAway trips are available on a request-only basis and are subject to availability. Once booked you should receive a payment confirmation and receipt via email, followed by a booking confirmation normally within 72hrs of making a booking, sometimes this can take a little longer subject to supplier delay
